Scope and Content

Scope and content: Petitions for naturalization as a United States citizen for individuals who were soldiers and otherwise attached to the U.S. Army. Provide details about individual such as name, age, sex/skin color/other physically identifying information, occupation (often indicates rank and/or company information), date and place of origin, date and place of arrival in the United States, country renounced, etc. Also includes affidavits of petitioner and two witnesses, petitioner's oath of allegiance, and order of court allowing petition. Most of the soldiers came from Camp Funston, attached to Fort Riley, and most of them petitioned for citizenship in 1918 under the 9 May 1918 Act of Congress. Organized numerically by certificate of naturalization number; alphabetical index by surname at beginning of each volume.
