Scope and Content

Scope and content: Intradepartmental memoranda, minutes of monthly Parole Board meetings with decisions regarding inmate paroles. Information is organized chronologically by year; board minutes for annual and quarterly meetings. Includes files for all institutions and for specific facilities.

Earliest records, from 1942-circa 1960, are for individual institutions(e.g. Kansas State Industrial Reformatory, Kansas State Industrial Farm for Women, and the Kansas State Penitentiary) overseen by the Kansas Board of Administration before the correctional facilities came under the oversight of the Kansas Adult Authority and may include information regarding both inmates' pardon and parole as well as personnel decisions made by the board. Later minutes are specific for pardon/parole/clemency decisions and typically include inmate name and number and final recommendation for individual inmates. Organized mostly in chronological order by meeting date.
