Abstract: This collection contains both paper and microfilmed records from Clark County. The only paper record series comes from the Sheriff's office and is a blueprint of the Clark County Jail in Ashland, Kansas, dated 1983. Most of the collection consists of two reels of microfilmed affidavit and marriage license records from the county probate court.

Administrative History

Administrative History: Clark County was established on February 26, 1867. It was named in honor of Charles F. Clarke, captain of Co. F, Sixth Kansas Cavalry. Clark was promoted to Assistant Adjutant General in the U.S. Volunteers. He died in Memphis, TN on December 10, 1862.
