Abstract: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission was formed by the United States Congress to plan and carry out a commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth in 2009. Dr. Herschel Stroud served as Kansas liaison to the commission. His records include meeting minutes for the commission and for planning activities within the state of Kansas, correspondence, sample publicity materials from the commission and from a variety of cultural institutions throughout the United States, progress reports providing updates about planning events and activities, notes, newspaper clippings and other miscellaneous materials. The records provide information about the commemoration both at a national level and at the state level for Kansas.
