Abstract: The Lawrence History collection is a collection of assembled materials comprised of records from various businesses, churches, and other organizations and sources providing information about the history of Lawrence, Kansas. The organizations include the 1st Methodist Episcopal Church, Plymouth Congregational Church, Pioneers of the City of Lawrence, Western Bakery daybook, Thad Stevens hardware store, and Journal Company Print. The records consist primarily of ledgers or minute books for the organizations. Records from Journal Company Print include sample forms, letterhead stationery, posters, circulars, handbills, catalogs, business cards, advertisements, and other papers. These can also be found on microfilm, roll MS 36.02. The collection also includes correspondence from various individuals and early written histories and early accounts of life in Lawrence.
