Abstract: The Temperance History collection is an assembled collection of materials from various sources documenting temperance activities and organizations in Kansas. Included are records of the Kansas State Temperance Union; the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) McPherson/McPherson County, Walnut, & Crawford/Labette County (1932-1970) chapters; WCTU Books of memory [ca. 1941-ca. 1992]; and the Anti-Saloon League of America, Kansas Department, dated 1918-1920. The bulk of the collection consists of records of the Kansas State Temperance Union, comprised of cash books, publications, copies of letters sent, account books, and meeting minutes. The Kansas WCTU Books of memory give biographical information about and contain photographs of deceased members.
