Fort Hays - Christmas Past

Christmas Past at Fort Hays State Historic SiteDiscover a Victorian “Christmas Past” at Fort Hays State Historic Site. Buildings will be lit with candles and kerosene lanterns and the walkways lined with luminaries. The officers’ homes will be decorated in the Victorian style. Fort Hays Volunteers, dressed in period clothing, will provide music. Outside, visitors can board a horse-drawn wagon for a leisurely trip around the grounds.  Behind the officers’ home, hot, spiced cider from over a campfire will warm up the riders.  Near the guardhouse, soldiers will be making hot fried apples over another campfire.

Admission fee is $5 adults, $1 students. Members of the Kansas Historical Foundation and children five and under are admitted free. Fort Hays State Historic Site is located four miles south of I-70 exit 157 at Hays. For more information call 785-625-6812.
