Grinter Place - Kansas Day

Grinter Place State Historic Site, Kansas CityJoin us for a commemoration of our state's 151st birthday. Local artists are invited to participate in our Kansas Day art contest. Contest winners will be announced at 1 p.m. and winning designs will be on display through February. We'll also have craft projects and will cook cupcakes and corn muffins on the Grinter kitchen wood stove. Children can participate in a state symbol craft activity and enjoy old fashioned toy and other demonstrations.

Local volunteer actors will present a reading of the melodrama Badness on the Banks of Brushy Creek by playwright Don Carlton. The performance will be followed by a reception.
