Notable Kansan Events
As part of the state’s commemoration of the Kansas sesquicentennial during 2011, Governor Sam Brownback invites Kansans to join him at five events across the state at which he will announce the names of the top 25 notable Kansans. These individuals were recently selected by the governor’s blue ribbon panel for history. Five names will be announced at each event. The public is invited to attend all events, each featuring comments by Governor Brownback, introduction of special guests, and a brief reception.
The events will be held in the following locations:
Thursday, August 18 - Kansas Museum of History, Topeka
Thursday, August 25 - Shawnee Indian Mission State Historic Site, Fairway
Wednesday, August 31, 2011 - Fort Scott National Historic Site, Fort Scott
Wednesday, September 7, 2011 - Kansas Aviation Museum, Wichita
Thursday, September 15, 2011 - Kansas State Fair, Hutchinson (Encampment Building, Dillon Hall)
