Pawnee Indian Museum - Kansas Day
This event marks the 151st anniversary of Kansas statehood, January 29, 1861. The site will honor our state animal, the American Bison (buffalo) that day with a special exhibit of antique bison prints from the 1700s and 1800s. The highlight of the day will be a drawing for a bison skull painted by a Pawnee elder. The skull was donated for the drawing by the Friends of Pawnee Indian Museum, a non-profit organization that supports the programs of the Museum. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free for this special event.
Pawnee Indian Museum State Historic Site is located at 480 Pawnee Trail, eight miles north of U.S. 36 on K-266 near Republic. For more information call 785-361-2255.
