Kansas Museum of History - 150 Things I Love About Kansas

Pawnee Indian Museum - Ledger Art of the Cheyennes and Kiowas

Ledger Art is a term for Plains Indian narrative drawing or painting on paper or cloth.  This form of art was popular primarily from the 1860s to about 1900.  Two plains tribes that produced the majority of the art were the Cheyenne and the Kiowa.  Explore this temporary exhibit, featuring several large colorful examples of ledger art including Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Pawnee warriors in battle and in daily life. Pawnee Indian Museum is located at 480 Pawnee Trail, eight miles north of U.S. 36 on K-266 near Republic. For more information call 785-361-2255.
