Kansans and Their Passion For Collecting

Human beings have collected for thousands of years. Louis Mendoza of Garden City

The world's oldest collection may be an 80,000-year-old assortment of pebbles found in a French cave.

Today it's estimated that one of every three Americans collects something.

Despite the fact that collecting is common behavior, it is not a simple activity. It satisfies emotions which lie at the heart of our personalities.

This exhibit explores the human drive to collect through the stories of over 20 Kansas collectors and museums.
