Wow! That Oughta Be In a Museum!Collectors and MuseumsMuseums often benefit from the generosity of private collectors.
Rare pieces of cut and engraved glass are now at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum because of collectors Garnett and Robert Hall. Among the leading glass collectors in America, the Halls are active club members and write articles on the scholarship and ethics of collecting. In the mid-1980s they decided to share their collection with a museum. The Halls offered to help director Bob Puckett assemble a collection rivaling America's best. Over the years, the couple has donated a number of unusual pieces purchased on collecting jaunts around the country. Building a collection of over 50 pieces has been a collaborative effort between the Halls and the museum. Bob Puckett values the couple's contributions of expert advice as well as rare objects.
