Physical Sensation

Collecting always involves our senses. Jill Evans of Colby

We usually identify with objects through sight and touch. Many collectors enjoy the physical sensation of handling their collections. Taste, however, is what led Jill Evans to collect.

Jill was a little girl who liked to chew on erasers when her mother started her collection. Today Jill is 15 and living in Colby, and her eraser collection numbers around 300. She even has erasers from Korea and Great Britain.

Most children collect something. Jill's eraser collection dates from her childhood, but she still adds unique erasers.

"My mom and I enjoy just sitting down and looking at them and remembering things. She can tell me stories and we can relate back to family. . . . It brings back things that she remembers that maybe she would not remember if we didn't have them."
