Civil War Veterans in KansasThis database is a work in progress. It currently contains over 28,000 names of Union veterans of the Civil War who lived in Kansas after 1865. The names are from various rosters or reunion proceedings. Many of the rosters were based on the 1889 census of veterans authorized by the state legislature. The list of the titles included in this database follows the search boxes. The information in this database was input by KSHS staff and volunteers and includes the name of the veteran, the state from which he served, residence in Kansas when the list was compiled, and the source of information. Some of the original sources contain additional information such as rank, regiment and company, birth and/or death date, dates of service, parents' or wife's name, etc. See the list of sources to see what additional information is included in a specific volume. This database and the list of sources will continue to grow as volumes are completed. For Civil War veterans publications not yet included in this database, see the Grand Army of the Republic Bibliography. Sources included in this database:Alrich, L.L.
