Kansas Veterans of World War II Oral History Projects
The 2005 Kansas Legislature appropriated $150,000* for grant projects
to record the experiences of Kansas veterans of World War II. The Kansas Historical Society will administer the program.

A second round of applications will be accepted. Application due date
is January 6, 2006.
Who May Apply
Grants may be awarded to the following types of organizations:
- not-for-profit organizations that have tax-exempt status under section
501 (c) of the federal internal revenue code of 1986
- a state educational institution as defined by K.S. A. 74-3201 b
and amendments thereto
- a degree or certificate granting private college located in the
state
- a local, municipal, or state historical agency
Grant Amounts
Grant proposals may request a maximum of $25,000.
Grant funds may be used to purchase equipment to record oral history
interviews (audio or video) but not for any other equipment.
Deadlines
Applications must be postmarked by January 6, 2006.
Please submit 6 copies of the entire application to the Kansas Historical Society, Attn: WWII Oral History Grant Program, 6425 SW 6th
Avenue, Topeka, KS 66615.
All projects must be completed by May 1, 2007, and all funds must be
expended by the end of the project.
Applying for a Grant
Application Review
Application reviews will be completed and all applicants notified of
the status of their request by February 1, 2006. The review panel will
base its decisions on these Application
Review Criteria.
