Farm Truck

Ford grain truck

A truck is an indispensable piece of equipment on any farm.

Trucks are needed for harvesting, receiving the crops as the combine cuts through the field, and then taking the grain to the local elevator or to farm storage bins. A truck is an indispensable piece of equipment on the farm.

In 1955 the Geffert family of rural Iola bought two new 1955 Ford F600 trucks—one red, one blue—for use in farming.  Both had been adapted for hauling crops. Like many Kansas farmers, the Gefferts raised milo, corn, soybeans, and wheat. They used these trucks regularly for hauling crops to the local elevator at Humboldt.

Robert "Mike" Geffert donated the red truck to the Kansas Museum of History in 1999.  A true low-mileage vehicle, it has only 32,150 miles on it.
