Frederick Dave Seaton grew up in Coffeyville. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard University. He received a master’s degree from Columbia University School of International Affairs.
He is editor and publisher of the Winfield Daily Courier. He served as president of the Kansas Press Association in 1991 and the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce in 1983/1984. He is a member of the America Society of Newspaper Editors.
He has been involved in numerous organizations include the Cowley County Historical Society, Winfield Martin Luther King, Jr., Task Force, and Rotary Club. He served on the board of KPTS-TV, Kansas Humanities Council, Kansas Press Association, Winfield Main Street, and Creative Community Living (services for developmentally disabled).
Seaton was inducted into the Kansas Newspaper Hall of Fame in 2010. His special interests include Brazil, Russian history, and the relationship of domestic politics to American foreign policy. He has received Kansas Press Association awards for his editorials and personal columns.
His wife, Carolyn, is a homemaker and artist.
Seaton was first elected to the Kansas Historical Foundation Board of Directors in 1996. He was elected to the executive committee in 2011.
