Facility Rental - Birthday Parties
Celebrate at the Kansas Museum of History, Topeka!
Our birthday parties are a blast with the past! Our colorful, inviting rooms accommodate approximately 10 children and is perfect for historic theme parties or family gatherings. The gallery provides interesting learning activities for all ages.
Open presents and enjoy birthday cake in a private party room. Everyone goes home with a smile and something special. Let us help you to make history on your child's next birthday!
Reservations
- All parties must be reserved at least two weeks ahead of time.
- Contact the facility rental coordinator to reserve the room.
Hours
- Mornings: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday (not available on Sunday or Monday)
- Evenings: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday - Friday (not available on Saturday)
- If parents want to schedule a party during a different time than those listed above, they will be charged the regular rental rate for the classroom space. We can provide party favors for the group; however, these parties will not have private access to Discovery Place. The parties can still visit Discovery Place along with the public and they will receive free admission to the museum.
- If the party is in the evening, the museum galleries will not be open. Therefore guests of the party will not receive free museum admission.
Included
- Parents can have access to our facility for two hours.
- The first hour the group will have the inside portion of Discovery Place reserved for a private party. During this time parents may have access to the one of the museum classrooms to decorate.
- The second hour of the party the guests can have cake/food/gifts in the classroom.

We will provide a museum party favor for each child and a "day you were born" newspaper copy for the birthday child. - Parents can bring in food and drink, although it must stay in the classroom. If needed, parents may also use the kitchenette. Food and drink are not allowed in Discovery Place.
- All children and up to five adults at the party will be admitted into our museum after the party at no extra charge. Additional adults will pay regular museum admission.
Rates
- Up to 12 children—$75
- 13 - 15 children—$85
- More than 15 children to a maximum of 20—Add $3 for extra child
- There is no limit on the number of adults who can attend the birthday party (however, only five adult museum admissions included).
- If parents want to add a half hour to the time for set-up/clean-up there is an additional $25 charge.
