The Kansas Museum of History celebrates headwear from the beautiful to the bizarre in this special exhibit, Head Bling!
For many centuries, and across all cultures, people have worn hats for protection from the elements. By the 20th century hats had become a fashion necessity, and the well-dressed man and woman didn't step out in public without one. Today, wearing a hat often makes a personal fashion statement.
This exhibit features more than 70 of the best hats in our museum collections, as well as a few special pieces borrowed for the display. Browse the highlights listed below, then click on the filmstrip images to see some of the featured hats.
