Kansas Day at the Capitol

Kansas State CapitolKansas Day at the Capitol, will be celebrated Thursday, January 29, 2015. Join Governor Sam Brownback at 10 a.m. in the first floor rotunda for the awards ceremony for the Happy Birthday, Kansas! photo contest. The University of Kansas Chamber Singers will perform and the Kansas Day cake will be presented. Following the awards presentation, the cake will be moved to ground level where everyone can enjoy and celebrate with Kansas' birthday.

Kansas Day commemorates the admission of the state as the 34th in the Union on January 29, 1861. Schools can mark the anniversary by learning more about their state's history with a visit to the Capitol. Historic tours and dome tours are available.
