Lloyd Stearman
(1898-1975)
- Born in Wellsville, attended Kansas State College
- Enlisted in navy in 1918 and learned to fly seaplanes
- Worked for Laird Swallow as a mechanic in 1920s
- Joined Walter Beech and Clyde Cessna to form Travel Air Manufacturing Company in 1925
- Became president of Lockheed Corporation in 1930s
