The Historical Society has a nearly comprehensive collection of newspapers for the state.  Kansas residents can borrow newspaper microfilm by placing a request with their local library for an interlibrary loanMany newspapers dating from 1854-1922 are also online and free for Kansas residents to use via the links in this database. For current non-electronic titles not yet on microfilm, consult our online catalog, ATLAS. Out-of-state researchers should contact KSHS reference staff for more information. Chronicling America - a limited number of our newspapers are available online through grant funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the Library of Congress.

Kansas Digital Newspapers program - The Kansas Digital Newspapers (KDN) program seeks to digitize and make available on the Internet digital editions of historic Kansas newspapers. The Kansas Historical Society (KSHS) manages KDN with support from both public and private partners, and draws on its comprehensive state newspaper collection, including more than 50,000 rolls of newspaper microfilm created by KSHS.
