The Kansas Historical Society honors outstanding work by writers on Kansas topics with two publication awards.
The Edgar Langsdorf Award for Excellence in Writing is presented annually to the author of the article judged best published in Kansas History: A Journal of the Central Plains. Winning authors are presented with a plaque and $200.
The Edward N. Tihen Historical Publication Award is presented biennially to first-time writers on Kansas history topics, for the amount of $500. The application deadline is April 15 in odd years.
