Kansas flag

Kansas flag

In 1925 the Kansas flag was a banner that hung from a horizontal bar. The banner was unpopular because it had wild sunflowers that were considered noxious weeds and it was awkward to hang or march with.

In 1927 the first official Kansas state flag had a blue field with the state seal in the center, topped by the state crest and a sunflower design. It is basically the same design we used today, with the addition Of "Kansas" in 1961.
