Bookstand at Goodnow HouseGlimpse into the life of Isaac and Ellen Denison Goodnow. The Goodnow family came from New England to find a new home and to keep slavery out of Kansas Territory. They stayed and led in the development of education in the new state.

Isaac Goodnow was a prominent farmer and successful businessman. Together he and Ellen built this unique stone farmhouse in the 1860s. Their interest in education and nature is reflected in the hundreds of objects they collected.

Other exhibits relate to the Goodnow's interest in education such as: Isaac's natural history collection and his library. Ellen's educational interests were focused within the field of domestic science.
