of the Central Plains
You'll find the latest in Kansas scholarship in Kansas
History, issued quarterly by the Kansas Historical Society,
Inc. This scholarly journal, recipient of awards from the Western History
Association and the American Association for State and Local History,
publishes new research on Kansas and western history and offers interesting,
well-illustrated articles that appeal to both the serious student and
the general reader.

Reflections
You'll find information about our collections, programs, and events
in our newest magazine, Reflections, produced
by the Kansas Historical Society. This publication is available free

Our younger readers enjoy Kansas
Kaleidscope. This colorful, award-winning magazine is published
five times during the school year, especially for grades three through

Preservation, published bimonthly, explores issues and events relating

The Kansas Anthropologist is an annual journal of the Kansas
Anthropological Association with editorial support from the Kansas Historical Society. The publication features scholarly articles in the
fields of archeology, ethnography, ethnohistory, cultural/social anthropology,

Original Documents History Packets
History packets are designed to make primary source materials available
to teachers and students in their classrooms. Each of the four different
packets contain a teacher's guide and 40 excellent facsimiles of letters,
journals, photographs, and more from the Society's collections. $15.00

This packet provides a realistic view of the Wild West period in Kansas
history. Photographs and reminiscences of cowboys, a wanted poster,
prison records, entries from the diary of a 21-year-old woman homesteading
near the Chisholm Trail, and cattle town ordinances are some of the

The relocation o Indians beginning in the 1830s, from east of the Mississippi

forts and the impact of the military on nineteenth century Kansas. Kansas

by the Kansas Historical Society from 1931 - 1977 and contains
