  • A Kiowa chief whose name meant "White Bear"
  • Spoke several languages including four Native American and Spanish
  • Called "Orator of the Plains"
  • Signed the 1867 Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty
  • Led many raids across the Plains
  • Fought to keep the Kiowa hunting grounds
  • Sentenced to life in prison in Texas
