Red Rocks

You're in good company when you visit the home of the William Allen White family. A Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and political adviser, White hosted well-known political and literary figures of the day. Theodore Roosevelt was one of five U.S. presidents to visit Red Rocks. The author of Giant, Showboat, and Cimarron, Edna Ferber wrote fondly of her stays with the White family. Operated with William Allen White Community Partnership.

Through The Emporia Gazette, White first became famous for his anti-Populist editorial "What's the Matter with Kansas?" His son, William Lindsay White, became a well-known radio broadcaster in the 1940s. Through world travels they connected with famous people like H. G. Wells and Albert Einstein.

Named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas People!
