Supplementary Materials and Resources
Supplementary Finding Aids
1. Menninger Archives Card Catalog
The Menninger Archives Card Catalog was created by archivists employed
by the Menninger Foundation. The Catalog indexes and cross-references
material pertaining to all three record groups of Kansas State Historical
Society’s collection of the Menninger Archives: Menninger Family
Archives, the Menninger Foundation Corporate Archives, and the Historical
Psychiatry Collections, though most material located in locations 118,
and some material in locations 102, were not incorporated into the indexing
process. Regardless of topic, however, researchers are urged to consult
Menninger Archives Card Catalog in order to take maximum advantage of
the existing cross-referencing.
2. Miscellaneous indices
There are other indices in this cabinet besides those listed below
(such as “Index to Working Files”, “KAM Archives”)
but I have not been able to determine what material they cover or if
they are still helpful to us.
a. Index for photographic collections housed in 118-14. See IV- Other
Collections, Photographic Collections for series lists.
b. “Index to Historical Scrapbooks (1919-1925)” by subject,
author, title.
I’m assuming these refer to scrapbooks in range 104. not verified
at this point.
c. “Rudimentary Index to TPR”, subject, author title.
Not very extensive.
d. Citations and Summaries from Topeka State Journal (green cards)
and Topeka Daily Capital (blue cards) re: Menninger family and Foundation,
by article date.
3. Binders located at 104-03-02-04
These binders provide contents lists by box for the same material
covered by the Menninger Archives Card Catalog. However, the material
represents only a fraction of the material in the KSHS Menninger Archives
Collection. Researchers should consult first the KSHS finding aid; where
the binders below are helpful, direct reference is made to the appropriate
series and binder.
Menninger Family Archives Lists
KAM Collections
Tape [Reel-to-Reel] Collections
Corporate Archives Lists
Historic Psychiatry Collections
4. Finding Aids in folders
104-04-02-11
Alphabetically arranged by last name, subject, or department/program
(interfiled). The collections therein are only a fraction of the material
held in the KSHS Menninger Archives collection. For the most complete
listing of Menninger Collections holdings, researchers should first
consult the KSHS finding aid. Where these folder lists might be helpful,
direct reference is made to the in the KSHS finding aid.

4. Range 104 shelf list, in appendix as “Museum and Archives,
Records of”
This material has not been assimilated into the finding aid, and is
a good mix of historical material pertinent to the Menninger Foundation’s
establishment, including many scrapbooks. Until this material has
been incorporated into the finding aid, this shelf list should be
skimmed in case pertinent material might obviously be there.
KSHS Library Holdings (several years old)
Some of the Library Holdings may be duplicated/added to in archival
collections. Researchers should also consult KSHS Ms. Collection finding
aid.
