Roosevelt Junior High School Collection, 1938-1980

Introduction
Roosevelt Junior High School, located at 211 Buchanan, Topeka, Kansas, was built in 1926
and was the first junior high school in Topeka. When the school was
closed in 1980, records of student and parent activities were given
to the Kansas State Historical Society. Printed materials were given
to the library and photographs of students and teachers were placed
in the photography collection. There are no restrictions on the use
of the materials.

Contains pictures, clippings, programs, meeting notes, and
information on the principal and the teachers.
PTA items:
Parent Teacher Association items, 1946-1959
Committee reports, notices, membership lists
“Roosevelt Celebration,” 1980:
Two bound volumes of records document the celebration held
May 3, 1980, when the school closed. The volumes contain committee
membership lists and minutes, correspondence, publicity,
schedules. A history of the school appears in the main volume.
The second volume contains the signatures of guests at the event.
