Eaton) Informs the Sec. of War that a treaty of peace and friendship between the Socks & Foxes, the Sioux, the Winnebagoes, the Menominees, the O. Mahaws, the Ioways, and the Ottoes, was signed on July 10. Other Sioux bands will probably sign. Further negotiations concern extinguishment of Indiand claims to certain lands lying between the head waters of the Des Moine and the Missouri.
