Anyone with an interest in historic preservation and the retention of the built environment is encouraged to join. Feel free to post questions on any preservation topic, discuss local and statewide issues, and offer your own creative solutions to other queries. Joining is easy and free. You can receive each post in an individual email or have an email digest give you all the posts for that day in one email. Please respect all members on the list and do not post any personal attacks. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your removal from the list. Preserving Kansas was created by the Kansas State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), part of the Kansas Historical Society (KSHS) in partnership with the Kansas Preservation Alliance (KPA) our statewide non-profit preservation advocacy group. As part of a state agency, the SHPO assists local governments, property owners, neighborhood groups, developers and preservationists with a variety of preservation-related programs. SHPO programs include historic property survey and documentation, the National Register of Historic Places, the Register of Historic Kansas Places, review of projects for compliance with State and Federal laws, and rehabilitation grants and tax credits programs.
