Celebrating Territorial Kansas' 150th Birthday

Art contestCongratulations to the five Kansas students who received awards June 6, 2005 in the art contest to celebrate Territorial Kansas' 150th birthday! The Kansas Territorial Sesquicentennial Commission, the Kansas State Historical Society, and the Kansas Department of Education jointly sponsored the project. We also thank Mr. and Mrs. William L. Oliver, Jr. for assistance with the project.

Winning entries received cash prizes and a certificate of achievement from Governor Kathleen Sebelius.The contest was designed to increase knowledge about the difficult process by which Kansas eventually became the 34th state of the Union.
