Self-Guided Tours:
Scavenger Hunt
Grades 4-12
As a service for educators, the Kansas Historical Society has created a sample Scavenger Hunt questionnaire.
This 60-question document (available for download) is divided according to
sections within the gallery and is intended to serve as a tool by educators
to create their own grade- and theme-specific scavenger hunts for their
students. The questions vary in difficultly and challenge students to
utilize critical thinking skills. Teachers can use scavenger hunts as
small group assignments (with adult supervision) to encourage students
to explore objects, graphics and labels in the Kansas History Museum's
main gallery.
It is highly recommended that groups provide their students
with clipboards to aid in the Scavenger Hunt. Clipboards will not be
provided at the Museum.
Remember to tailor the scavenger hunt to the appropriate amount of time your group will spend in the gallery. Feel free to alter any of the questions to better suit your curriculum needs.
