State Archives & Library
Guided Tours
Middle school and older
These tours offer introduction to research at the State Archvies &
Library. This orientation to the research room includes an overview
of the Society's holdings and may also include a behind-the-scenes tour.
Tours are designed for middle school and older and must be scheduled
in advance.
Tours of the Library must be scheduled separately from tours of the
museum galleries. To schedule a Library tour or a group visit, please
contact the Library reference desk at 785-272-8681, ext. 117.
You may want to include a short tour of the main reading room, or an
additional tour of about 30 minutes. A"behind-the-scenes"
tour to some of our storage areas and work spaces also may be available.
These tours are designed for middle school and older researchers and
must be scheduled in advance.
If
you would like to bring a school group or an adult organization as a
group to do research, please contact us ahead of time to let us know
the size of the group, when you will be arriving and the topic of your
research. We try to avoid scheduling visits from two groups at the same
time so that we can provide the best service possible. If this is your
first trip to do research here, you might also want to request that
our staff do a brief introduction to our procedures and to the resources
we have available when the group arrives.
