Celebrate Your Child's Birthday at the Kansas Museum of History!

The Kansas Museum of History is the perfect place to mark a milestone. From our hands-on gallery, Discovery Place, to our family-friendly exhibits, your child will enjoy celebrating a special day in this fun setting!

Discovery Place is a colorful, inviting room that accommodates approximately 10 children and is perfect for historic parties or family gatherings. The gallery provides interesting learning activities for all ages.

Open presents and enjoy birthday cake in a private party room. Everyone goes home with a smile and something special. We'll help you make history on your next birthday!

Birthday Party Specifics

Parents can have access to our facility for two hours.

The first hour the group will have the inside portion of Discovery Place reserved for a private party. During this time parents may have access to the classroom to decorate.

The second hour of the party the guests can have cake/food/gifts in one of the museum classrooms.

We will provide a museum party favor for each child and a "day you were born" newspaper copy for the birthday child.

Parents can bring in food and drink, although it must stay in the classroom. Food and drink are not allowed in Discovery Place. If needed, parents may also use the kitchenette.

All guests at the party will be admitted into our museum for free after the party.

If parents want to add a half hour to the time for set-up/clean-up (to make a full two hour party), there is an additional $25 charge.

If there are more than 15 children participating in the party, an additional $3 per child will be added. (This also applies if parents want extra party favors.) A maximum of 20 children is allowed.

If parents want to schedule a party during a different time than those listed above, they will be charged the regular rental rate for the classroom space. We can provide party favors for the group; however, these parties will not have private access to Discovery Place. The parties can still visit Discovery Place along with the public and they will receive free admission to the museum.

(Note: If the party is in the evening, the museum galleries will not be open. The guests of the party will not receive free museum admission.)
