Summary: Photo of the Fourth Grade students and teacher at Central Park School, Topeka, Kansas. The teacher was Mrs. Lucinda Todd. The principal at that time was Bill D. Horn. Mrs. Todd was one of 13 plaintiffs in Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka landmark U.S. Supreme Court case to desegregate schools. She was also the secretary of the Topeka NAACP which brought Legal Defense Fund to Topeka. The students are 1st row, left side: Mike Phillips*, Brad Marten, Becky Florence, Debra Doud, Linda Wilkins*; 2nd row: Michael Lewis, Patricia Misegadis, Kathy Hoge*, Johnnie Powell, Paula Harmon, Lila Edwards*, David James*; 3rd row: Mike Blevins*, Mike McKinley, Beth Dyck*, Bonnie Jean Fessler, Nancy St. Louis, Lynn Hein; 4th row: Ray Carbine*, Florence Justus, Randy Smith*, Myron Ackerman*, Scott Brown*, Stephen Snyder*; 5th row: Anne Pierce, Rodney Carson, Max Keever, Mary Turner*, Elizabeth Gross, Earl Rissen. Two students that were absent the day the photo was taken were Scott Whisler, Laurette Bleeck. The names with an asterisk are fifth graders.
