Summary: Salmon Brown, a son of John Brown, sent this photograph of himself to Samuel Reader, a fellow civil war veteran. Reader's family donated the photograph to the Kansas Historical Society. Salmon was wounded at the battle of Black Jack on June 2, 1856. He later moved to Oregon where he raised sheep on a 3,000-acre ranch.
