Schellenberg include a bibliography; biographical material; certificates; memorabilia; personal letters; school records; papers of family members; professional correspondence; and photographs, speeches, & papers relating to domestic & foreign professional activities. Papers of A. L. Schellenberg contain bibliographical notices; a biography; biographical & business correspondence; personal letters; photographs; a school notebook; personal letters & reminiscences of his wife, Sarah Schroeder Schellenberg; and personal letters of children. Papers of Abraham Schellenberg include bibliographical notices, a family register, a farm account book, genealogical data, letters, a passenger list, and letters of children.

Biography
Biog. Sketch (Full):
Abraham Schellenberg (1845-1920), a farmer and Mennonite elder of southern Russia and Kansas, was the grandfather of T.R. Schellenberg. Abraham married Katherina Lohrenz in 1869. A. L. (Abraham Lohrenz, 1869-1941), a newspaperman and farmer of Kansas and Texas, was their son. The family migrated to Kansas in the late 1870s because Katherina's parents were already there. Abraham, Katherina, and their five children settled in Garden Township, Harvey County, Kansas, amidst relatives.

T. R. (Theodore Roosevelt) Schellenberg (1903-1970) was the son of A. L. & Sarah Schellenberg. He was born in 1903 in Reno County, Kansas. He received elementary education at McPherson (1908-12) and Hillsboro (1912-15), Kansas. T. R. attended high school at Hillsboro from 1916 through 1918 and Tabor Academy in Hillsboro from 1919 until 1922. He attended Tabor College in Hillsboro from 1924 through 1926 and transferred to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in 1928 and a master's degree in 1930. He then went to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he earned a doctor of philosophy degree in 1934.
He was a history teacher at the University of Kansas in 1929 and 1930. He joined the staff of the National Archives (U.S.) and rose to the position of deputy archivist of the United States. While there, he became the country's pre-eminent archival theorist and wrote several books on archival theory & practice. He also taught at universities worldwide and consulted with archives in many countries, especially in Latin America. He died in 1970.
