Abstract:
Family History Notebooks, 4 volumes, compiled by Dr. James Blake. Includes information on the Blake, James and Mary (Jackson) Hazel, Dary (or Derry)/Russell/Hazel, and Palmateer/Van Steenburgh/Ackerly (or Akerly) families. Binders include photocopies and transcriptions of primary sources (such as census records, maps, and newspapers) and of compiled histories and other secondary sources; copies of photographs; lists of and brief sketches about family members; and other such materials.
The families settled in Clay, Chase, and Dickinson counties and also lived elsewhere in the state; most of the information gathered in the notebooks is from the 19th and 20th centuries, though the Blake family is apparently traced back to the Middle Ages in England.
