Summary: This is a photograph of the Lynch Ranch in Stevens County, Kansas. It was built on the site of the defunct town of Voorhees (which had a post office between 1887 and 1891). Various parts of the ranch are labeled: No. 1 is the ranch house, which was built using lumber from a store building in Voorhees; no. 2 is the ranch well, which was originally the town well for Voorhees. This well was partially hand dug; the deeper part was not hand dug; no. 3 is a cook shack on wheels, used to feed harvest crews; no. 4 is the granary, which was originally a business building in Voorhees; no. 5 is black locust trees.
