Topeka - Citizen Science - Kansas Museum of History

Citizen Science, presented by the Topeka Zoo at the Kansas Museum of History, will explore how ordinary citizens can provide information to scientists about the diminishing number of fireflies and potential causes.

Fireflies have always brightened the summer evenings, but in recent years their populations have dwindled. Firefly Watch is asking for help from citizens across the U.S. to obtain this information. See a presentation to learn how and why fireflies glow, how to identify fireflies by their flash colors, how to determine their locations and patterns, how to record and report this information, and how to count fireflies.

Grab your flashlight, dress for the outdoors, and join us!
