Dr. Henry Brown's Drugs, Books, and Stationery

This photograph shows a display created to celebrate National Pharmacy Week. The window includes the "tools" of the pharmacy trade such as beakers and chemical bottles. One hand printed sign says "We have filled over 7500 prescriptions and have filled them correctly." Another indicates that the pharmacists is registered as required by state law. The business was located at 17 South Jefferson Avenue in Iola, Kansas.

Round Corner Drug Store, Lawrence, Kansas

These three photographs show interior views of the Round Corner Drug Store, located at 8th and Massachusetts streets in Lawrence, Kansas. In the first photograph, dated around 1915, the soda fountain counter is visible, and several employees and customers are in the store. The man second from the right is identified as W. H. Varnum, an owner of the store. The second photograph shows four men in the store (left to right): Francis Benedict, George Lowman, Dr. E. H. Varnum, and W. H. Varnum. The third photograph, dated January 20, 1922, shows a view of the soda fountain. The man standing third from the left is Francis Benedict.

De Soto Drug Store, De Soto, Kansas

These photographs show exterior views of the De Soto Drug Store in De Soto, Kansas. The left side of the building is occupied by the De Soto State Bank. The white rectangle near the top of the façade has a date for the building which possibly reads 1908. One picture shows the bank, drug store, and an unidentified house. The other picture shows a man standing in front of the drug store. A reflection in the store window shows a utility pole with wires connected to it. To the right of the drug store, just right of the small steps on the sidewalk, a small brief case or doctor's bag is visible on the sidewalk. At the far right of the picture is an object marked "Gasolene, Day-Night." It may be an early gasoline pump.

Pharmacy at Stansfield Drug Store, Topeka, Kansas

This photograph shows an interior view of the pharmacy room at Stansfield Drug Store, located at 632 Kansas Avenue in Topeka, Kansas. The back wall of the room is covered with shelves filled with bottles of chemicals and pharmacy supplies, and a sink is visible on the right side of the picture. Glass beakers used for mixing chemicals are visible on the counter top around the sink. Two men are standing at a counter and appear to be preparing prescriptions, while the third man is standing at a small table stand talking on a candlestick-style telephone. Two of the men are identified as Joe Schneider and Charles Cole, and the third man is an unidentified employee. In the upper left background of the picture, a basket hanging on cables is visible. The basket could be used to transfer filled prescriptions from the pharmacist in the room out an opening to the clerk at the pharmacy service counter.
