L. W. Halbe Collection

Halbe, L. W. (Leslie Winfield), 1893-1981

The L. W. (Leslie Winfield) Halbe photo collection consists of 1500 glass plate negatives produced by Halbe during his teenage years. Halbe lived in Dorrance, Russell County, Kansas, and began taking photographs of the region with an inexpensive Sears and Roebuck camera when he was fifteen years old.

George Anson Carroll

This black and white photograph shows George Anson Carroll (1897-1975). The son of George Francis Carroll and Carrie Mae Williamson. He was born October 14, 1897 near Garden City, Kansas. As a young man, Carroll attended Kansas State University and served during World War I in the U.S. Army. For most of his adult life, Carroll worked as a electrician for the Deal Cement Company in Superior, Nebraska. He married Martha Rose King on April 14, 1929 in Superior, Nebraska. On December 14, 1975, Carrol passed away at the age of 78 in Superior, Nebraska.
