This composite photograph shows the bronze star badge and members of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), Banner Post No. 219, in Banner City, Kansas. At the close of the Civil War, Union Army veterans organized this fraternal organization to support veterans across the United States. The badge depicts a solider and a sailor clasping hands in front of a figure of Liberty.
