The L. W. (Leslie Winfield) Halbe photo collection consists of 1500 glass plate negatives produced by Halbe during his teenage years. Halbe lived in Dorrance, Russell County, Kansas, and began taking photographs of the region with an inexpensive Sears and Roebuck camera when he was fifteen years old.

Dr. John R. Brinkley used a Chevrolet truck, identified as "Ammunition Train No.1 Heavy Artillery" during his unsuccessful 1932 campaign for Kansas Governor. The truck was equipped with microphones, "talking picture" and sound equipment, and a good-sized platform for campaign speaking.

Docking, a World War II veteran and banker from Arkansas City, Kansas, was elected the thirty-eighth governor of Kansas in 1966. He successfully won re-election in 1968, 1970, and 1972. He served more terms than any Kansas Governor, but a constitutional amendment approved during Docking's tenure allowed a governor to serve only two four year terms.
