Entitled: Kansas Hills

Physical Description: Black ink on rag paper, woodcut. Scene of three hills with gable roof nestled among them. Road leading to house is foreground. Paper border on all sides of print.

History of Object: According to Logan, "this is a scene in the Milford area; the exact location is unknown." The artist, Herschel Logan, donated this print. According to Logan, this print was executed in Kansas. Logan was born April 19, 1901, in Magnolia, Missouri, and moved to Winfield, Kansas, shortly afterward. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He worked as an advertising artist in Salina until his retirement in 1968. He was also a gun collector and cartoonist. Logan moved to Santa Ana, California, sometime after 1968. Photograph may be found at O:\MUSEUM\Artifacts\logan_herschel.
