Physical Description: Blue and red Olympic patch with gold trim. Shield-shaped patch with caption below. Shield is machine-embroidered with gold border. Red and white vertical stripes in lower half. Olympic rings featured on a blue field on upper half. Blue machine embroidered letters on a white felt semi-circular attached label.

History of Object: This coat patch acquired by Wes Santee while competing in the 5000 meter run at the 1952 Olympics at Helsinki, Finland. He was a sophomore at the University of Kansas at the time. Santee was the world record holder, but did not medal at the Olympics.
