Physical Description: Black plastic Waverly High School football helmet with orange facemask and “bulldog” decal. Smooth black plastic spherical shell with orange facemask. Full facemask comprised of rubber lined steel cage. Blue and white foam cranium pads line interior. Two snap-mounted jaw pads below ear holes on interior of sides. White vinyl chinstrap snapped to corners. White cartoon bulldog decals adhered to sides. American flag decal adhered to rear. Seven ventilation holes at crown.

History of Object: This object is part of a uniform worn by students who played football at Waverly High School in the late 1990s. Waverly High School is located in Waverly, KS. The school played 11-man football until it transitioned to 8-man in 2002. Mike Hevel coached the team. The team won the 8-man Division II state championship in 2005 and the 8-man Division I state championship in 2006. The bulldog is the Waverly High School mascot. This helmet was worn with both game and practice uniforms (2006.50.1-15). The helmet was recondition by Circle Group in 2001 and approved by NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment).
